This is completely amazing. Cartoon Network hires an art-school student to come up with a viral marketing campaign for a funky cult-following cartoon show. Art student comes up with idea of making little magnetic light-boards in shape of cartoon character, scattering around city. “Suspicious devices” are reported to police by subway passengers, etc. MTA station and Mass Turnpike are closed down. SWAT teams deploy around Boston metropolitan area. The first suspicious device is detonated by a police bomb squad. Art student is tracked to his home in Arlington, arrested and “charged under a recently enacted statute making it a crime to place a hoax device that results in panic.”

The poor guy is from Byelorus. I can’t see how authorities could have reacted any differently, but still, he probably wonders if he ever really left Minsk.
