The government of Singapore is at it again. Apparently “insulting a public servant” is illegal and punishable by imprisonment.

Singapore’s ruling elite seems to harbor a rather Shakespearean image of the ideal polity. They want their city-state to look like a 16th-century Englishman’s idea of 15th-century Verona. It would be more aesthetically consistent if they were to address these issues by dueling, though.
