As shown by the troubling experience of Massachussetts from 2006 to 2007, if the US adopts a universal health-insurance plan based on mandates and subsidies for the poor, then within a year, the number of uninsured will be cut in half, the number of people receiving preventive care will rise, the number of people seeing dentists will rise, and the number of people who put off necessary medical care due to concerns about cost will drop. Employers will not cut benefits in order to shunt employees into the public system, and people will not drop their private coverage in order to opt into the public system.

Who will save us from these mad Communists?
