Matthew Yglesias points us to an article on Harvard Business School professor Mikail Jan Piskorski, who’s found out what people use social networking sites for:

The biggest usage categories are men looking at women they don’t know, followed by men looking at women they do know. Women look at other women they know. Overall, women receive two-thirds of all page views.

“This was a very big surprise: A lot of guys in relationships are looking at women they don’t know,” says Piskorski. “It’s an easy way to see if anyone might be a better match.”

So basically people use Facebook the way we used to use the Facebook. Surprise! Strange times we live in!

This is one of those bits of news you read and think to yourself, “That’s going to provoke a lot of fights between couples.”
